In the latest iOS 9, Spotlight has gone a lot smarter than it was. Instead of searching stock apps and web pages, Spotlight now offers content searching within third-party apps. Spotlight can be accessed in two ways: one is the swipe down gesture on Home screen and other is the swipe left to right from the very first home screen.

In case you are not amazed by Spotlight and wish to completely disable it, then this article can come in handy. You will need to Jailbreak your iOS 9 device, and once you do it, you’ll need to update PreferenceLoader from Cydia. If you encounter any issue while Jailbreaking, refer our guide on how to resolve issues while Jailbreaking iOS 9 using Pangu tool.

How to Disable Spotlight on iPhone

Assuming that you have successfully accomplished both the tasks, all you need to do is install SpotLightBeGone Cydia tweak, which is available for free on BigBoss repo. The tweak gives you two options under Settings; you can either turn off swipe down gesture or swipe left to right gesture which invokes Spotlight.

You can disable both the option to completely disable Spotlight feature in iOS 9. To do this, you will need to enter SettingsSpotLightBeGone and toggle ON both the options: Swipe Down disabled and Page disabled. After doing it, either restart your device or respring to make changes take effect.
