Proton Cydia Tweak: Rev Up Your Music Experience

Whenever I’m alone or feel a bit sad, music is my best option to either heal the pain or enjoy every moment. Fortunately, the revamped Music app on my iPhone boasts of all the advanced features to let me remain entertained with tons of fantastic songs.

Being a music lover, I like customizing the stock Music app on my iOS device. Jailbreak tweaks have always been great in terms of not just bringing some cool dimensions to the app but also fine tuning it in accordance with my taste.

Proton Cydia Tweak

While looking for a good Cydia tweak to let me augment music experience on my iPhone, I stumbled up Proton. With the impressive design, fluid animations, the tweak did charm me at first sight.

Unsnapped and Snapped Mode

Proton Cydia tweak has two forms. Unsnapped mode is the one where floating icon hovers around with the album art of whatever you are listening. Snapped Mode consists of floating widget which has a few options built into it such as, play and pause buttons, forward and backward buttons, the name of the artist playing, the name of the song playing, the art of the album work as a background etc.

There is an option to switch between snapped and unsnapped mode easily. You can play or pause music by tapping on the unsnapped mode.

Plenty of Options to Configure

There are a lot of options to configure the tweak as per your need. Once you have installed it, launch Settings app, look for the tweak and tap on it. The preference pane will open, where you will get so many options like, enabling or disabling the tweak, viewing the gestures available in the tweak, selecting how the Proton UI is colored in accordance with the album artwork and more.

  • Enable or disable the tweak as per need.
  • View the gestures available in the tweak.
  • Selecting how the Proton UI is colored based on the album artwork.
  • The option to configure a size for the Snapped “Proton” mode icon.
  • Keep the interface hidden when no media is playing at all.
  • Dismiss interface automatically when not in use.
  • Selecting the timeout period before Proton is hidden automatically.
  • Allow the tweak look for updates automatically.
  • Reset all settings to factory defaults.

Options to hide the interface when no media is playing or dismiss it automatically when not in use are really handy. And I’m sure you’ll find them quite user-friendly as well.

Proton has the quality to let you spice up your listening music experience. If you are looking for a tweak to help you rev up the way you listen or control music, it can be a good option.

MapsAllCountries for iOS 9 Cydia Tweak: Enables Navigation in Unsupported Countries

The Maps app on iPhone and iPad supports turn-by-turn navigation feature to only a few countries. This makes this app almost unusable for people without navigation feature in unsupported countries. If you have Jailbroken your iOS 9, then there’s a Cydia tweak called “MapsAllCountries for iOS 9” to get navigation feature to unsupported countries.

The tweak is available for free on Cydia’s BigBoss repo and being very small in size; it takes hardly a minute to download and start using it. The tweak basically unlocks the barrier to support navigation feature. There are no preferences or settings to be done to use this tweak.

MapsAllCountries for iOS 9 Cydia tweak enables navigation in unsupported countries

All you’ll need to do is to install and respring your iPhone or iPad and then start using Apple Maps app for navigation. The tweak is compatible only with Jailbroken iOS 9, so do not install if you are using earlier versions of iOS. The same developer has the same tweak for earlier iOS versions as well. MapsAllCountries is the earlier tweak to support iOS 6, 7, and 8.

The tweak is certainly very useful for those who tend to travel a lot. It becomes easy to navigate through streets, then to ask for directions every time. Apple should have addressed this limitation by now, but as it is not taken care of, we will have to rely on this Cydia tweak to get the job done.

Fix iOS Date Bug with BrickingDate Cydia tweak on iPhone/iPad

Recently, a new bug was discovered in iOS which completely makes your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch unusable. In technical terms this situation is shortly described as a bricked device. The bug is activated when you set your iDevice date to January 1, 1970. PLEASE NOTE: Do not rush to test it because there is no turning back after your device is bricked.

Even if you get into DFU mode and restore using iTunes, your iDevice will be stucked on the Apple Logo and won’t pass that screen. The only option for you would be to head to the Genius Bar at Apple. One more interesting fact about the bug is that it has affected only 64-bit chips. That means A7, A8, A8X, A9, or A9X chipset is at risk.

Fix iOS Date Bug with BrickingDate Cydia Tweak

Luckily, if you have Jailbroken the iOS, then there’s a Cydia tweak that will work as a defender against this bug. The tweak is called BrickingDate and it is available for free on Cydia. To install it, you’ll need to add developer’s repo given at the end of this post. For non-Jailbroken devices, we would only suggest them not to mess with the date, unless Apple fixes the issue in their upcoming update.

The bug is seriously dangerous because anyone with malicious intentions can mess up your iDevice, if he gets an access to it. So if you haven’t Jailbroken your device, make sure you do not hand over your device to someone you don’t trust enough.

Coming back to the BrickingDate tweak; you’ll need to add repo.ziph0n.com in Cydia. If you are new to Cydia, you can check how to add repo / sources in Cydia. It is highly recommended to download BrickingDate tweak, remember, precautions are always better than to cure.

Meteor Cydia Tweak for Jailbroken iPhone and iPad brings Current Temperature to Weather App Icon

The current feature of Weather app is quite sufficient to get the latest updates on Weather forecast and current temperature. As you are reading about a Cydia tweak, it is evident that you have a Jailbroken iPhone or iPad and you want customization in everything. That’s why we have come up with a Cydia tweak called Meteor, which shows you the current temperature right on the Weather app icon.

Meteor is an upcoming Cydia tweak launching today and it is priced at $1.99. Of course, it seems to be little over priced. But it has really nice nifty features to justify it. The developer of the tweak has been testing the battery drain caused by the tweak. The result was almost zero battery drain, which is surely a welcoming feature.

Meteor Cydia Tweak

Once the tweak is installed, you can customize the temperature unit, update interval, status bar position, and much more. All this can be done from the preferences section of the tweak inside the Settings app of your iPhone or iPad. It certainly comes in handy if you like to check the weather before planning your trip.

The tweak also serves the purpose of easy accessibility, as you will not need to launch the Health app to get the latest forecast or current temperature. The icon will reveal all the basic details you need to know about the weather.

On a closing note, almost two dollars for Weather seems to be little too much. But as said earlier, the features and usability justify the price. It depends on you, how weather geek you are.
