How to Disable Home Screen Rotation on iPhone 6/6s Plus [Nuus Cydia Tweak]

Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6 Plus automatically switches the screen to landscape mode when you turn your iPhone. This is certainly helpful, but it would have been really nice if there was an option to disable rotation of just home screen. The built-in option to disable rotation in iOS 9 has its effect system wide. That means if you are watching a movie and you turn your iPhone to landscape mode, the screen would not rotate.

So, if you want to disable just the home screen to rotate then there’s a Cydia tweak. I personally don’t see any need for this option, but there are users who might be interested in having it.

Disable Homescreen Rotation on iPhone 6-6s Plus Nuus Cydia Tweak

For the users who are looking to disable automatic home screen rotation on their iPhone, there is a Cydia tweak to do the job. The tweak is called Nuus, available for free on BigBoss repo. The tweak is very small in size and hardly takes a few seconds to install.

After you install Nuus, there is no setting or option to be configured. In fact, there is no preference panel for this tweak in Settings app. This is the only drawback of this tweak; it starts working immediately after installation. In case you want to have landscape mode enabled for home screen, then the ultimate solution is to uninstall the tweak. After you are done, you’ll have to again download and install the tweak to disable automatic home screen rotation.

The tweak should have a toggle ON/OFF switch to enable/disable automatic home screen rotation. Almost none of us would want to have portrait mode all the time on our iPhone. Unfortunately, this is the only solution available as of now to disable home screen rotation.

The introduction of 3D Touch has unleashed many new opportunity to use our iPhone or iPad more effectively. There are some drawbacks, but we can expect that the new technology will evolve over a period of time.

The quick action feature of 3D touch is certainly helpful, but there is a small drawback and that is, it only shows you four quick action options in the menu. If you have a Jailbroken iPhone or iPad, this limitation can be removed with Cydia tweak.

Add Panorama and Time-lapse to 3D Touch Shortcut on iPhone Camera AppAdd Panorama and Time-Lapse 3D Touch Shortcut to iPhone Camera App

UnlimShortcut Cydia tweak will let you have more than four quick action options when you 3D touch an app on home screen. This tweak is mandatory for using the CamTouch Cydia tweak that gives you more than four quick action options on stock Camera app of iPhone or iPad.

UnlimShortcut and CamTouch Cydia tweaks are developed by PoomSmart. UnlimShortcut is required to use CamTouch and maybe for few other future Cydia tweaks from the developer. For now, we will get back to CamTouch.

CamTouch is a free Cydia tweak available on BigBoss repo. As of now, when you 3D Touch Camera app, you get four quick action options. After you install this tweak, you will have two additional options: Take Panorama and Record Time-Lapse.

Although there are no other preferences to be done, you can still use the Settings app to configure it for customization. You can manage the size of quick action menu from preferences, but make sure you do it with care else you will have a crazy quick action menu.

Lastly, the tweak is very small in size and won’t take more than a minute to download and install. Give it a try to get extra shortcuts on using 3D Touch.

How to Get Split View on iPhone/iPad in iOS 9 [Splitify Cydia Tweak]

The latest iOS 9 bought Split View feature exclusively to iPads. The new feature enables working on two different apps simultaneously on the same screen. That means you won’t need to switch between two apps.

Apple did not introduce this feature to iPhones because of the small screen issue. If you still want to use Split View on your iOS 9 enabled  iPhone, then a recently released Cydia tweak is perfect for you. Splitify Cydia tweak brings Split View on Jailbroken iPhone or iPad running iOS 9.

Splitify Cydia Tweak: Get Split View on iPhone/iPad Running iOS 9 Using

Splitify Cydia tweak is available for free on Cydia’s BigBoss repo and it starts working as soon as you install it. There are no settings or configurations to be done. After you install the tweak, you just need to swipe the right side edge of the screen.

You can use Split View window to select an additional app to work. Apple has right not released this feature to iPhone, taking in consideration the screen size. Splitify works in landscape as well as portrait mode; but in portrait, things get really messy because of the screen size.

Thus, it is recommended to use this tweak in landscape mode to get the perfect Split View experience. Apart from that, the tweak has preference panel for some additional features. You can choose a different degree of rotation, and also rotation of lock screen.

There some normal glitches and bugs with the user interface, but the tweak seems to be working fine in landscape mode. Something is always better than nothing, so if you desire to have Split View on your iPhone this tweak is perfect to do the job.

Get Picture-in-Picture Mode for any iPhone/iPad Running iOS 9 with Pegasus Cydia Tweak

One of the biggest advantages of Jailbreaking an iOS device is that an owner of older iOS devices can easily access features meant only for the latest iOS devices. For example, if a user of iPhone 6 wants to enjoy 3D Touch feature, which is available in iPhone 6s and 6s Plus only, on his iPhone 6, he can do this by using some tweaks.

Similarly, users can enjoy a picture-in-picture mode for any iOS 9 compatible device using Pegasus. As of now, picture-in-picture feature is available in iPad Pro that allows you to watch a video or make a FaceTime call while doing some other task in background.

Picture in Picture Mode in Older iDevices with Pegasus Cydia Tweak

Now with the help of Pegasus, you can use this feature on other iOS devices enabled by iOS 9. This tweak is compatible with different iOS devices like iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad 2/3. Note that FaceTime doesn’t work in this tweak as of now; developer is working on this feature.

Pegasus works really well; once you install this tweak, you are not supposed to configure it. You can now see a picture-in-picture button next to the Pause button in video. If you tap on this button, the video will detach itself from the app and you will be able to access other apps while watching the video. Moreover, you can hide video on the brink of the screen, change the size of video and move it around.

While you are watching the video in fullscreen, double tap on it with your two fingers or press the Home button to detach the video. To re-attach the video, double tap on the video again.

There are some downsides of this tweak; for example, when you re-attach the video, it does stop playing. Apart from this, Pegasus doesn’t work on FaceTime.

Want to download Pegasus? The tweak is available in the BigBoss repo at $2.99. VideoPane is another such tweak that functions similarly and boasts more options. The major difference between the two tweaks is that Pegasus uses Apple’s API for this tweak and gives better result.

How to Open Unlimited Safari Tabs on iPhone/iPad in iOS 9 [Xaris Cydia Tweak]

Safari app on iOS 9 is widely used for browsing different sites on internet, and with latest updates it has gained some more attractive features. There’s one limitation, Safari app does not let you open more than 36 tabs; there’s no explanation to why it does not let your open more than 36 tabs.

If you ask me, 36 tabs are more than enough for anyone; even if he or she is browsing internet 24/7, which is practically not possible. There should be some reason, why Apple does not allow you to open more tabs. But, if you want more tabs on your Safari, there’s a tweak for that too.

Open Unlimited Safari Tabs on iPhone with Xaris Cydia Tweak

The tweak is called Xaris; it is available for free in Cydia. There is no configuration to be done after you install the tweak. Simply launch Safari browser and open as many tabs as you want. I still doubt on the unlimited concept because the more tabs you open, higher is your CPU and RAM usage, which will slow down the performance of your iPhone or iPad.

The tweak might not be useful to normal users, but if you are a hardcore internet browsing machine, this tweak will definitely add spice to your browsing experience. The tweak is also useful if you are not habituate to close the tab after you visited any specific website.
